Settlement Engagement and Transition Support Program

Funded by DSS (Department of Social Services), MCC helps and supports eligible migrants*, refugees*, and temporary residents* under the SSP (Settlement Services Program). For them to be eligible they must: live permanently in Brisbane, Queensland and have been in Australia for less than 5 years. MCC helps SSP clients to settle and integrate into Australian society. MCC also provides a range of services to benefit SSP clients.

*Eligibility:
  • Migrants – visa subclass family stream (low English proficiency) 100, 101, 102, 103, 114, 115, 116, 117, 143, 801,
    802, 804, 835, 836, 837, 838, 864.
  • Refugees – visa subclass 200, 201, 202, 203, 204, 800, 866. Other stream – visa subclass 151, 852.
  • Temporary residents – visa subclass family stream 173, 300, 309, 310, 445, 820, 884.
  • Skilled stream (dependants only) 160, 161, 162, 163, 164, 165, 188, 400, 403, 408, 476, 482, 485, 489, 491, 494.

Casework and ReferralsHelps migrants understand more about the mainstream services, their rights and responsibilities. Refugees and migrants are connected with the appropriate agencies and organisations.

Info Sessions and Life SkillsInformation sessions on many useful topics such as banking, nutrition, parenting, fire and safety, renting rights and responsibilities, managing money, police services, employment and much more.
