Classes Resume: English Conversational Club

Come and join the thriving club that meets at MCC every Thursday from 10.00am to 12.00pm. Our club members are mostly new migrants who cherish the opportunity to learn and practice conversing in English. These fun filled classes are lead by our dedicated team of volunteers - Michael Chung (Mong), Evelyn Wong, Evelyn Kuan, Lisa Liaw, Kim Bott, Debbie Tam and coordinated by Sylvia Tiong. More volunteers and club members are welcomed.

Classes Resume: Certificate II in Spoken & Written English

After 2 weeks of school holidays, these classes taught by MCC staff Leonardo Lequizamon will resume from 4 October. Held every Monday and Wednesday, Leonardo helps our students who have enrolled in MCC's childcare and aged care courses to improve their English literacy skills prior to their childcare/aged care course commencement.

Classes Resume: Certificate III in Early Childhood Education

35 childcare course students returned to class after the school holidays. They will have a full schedule of theory lessons and practical placement sessions every week until 8 December when the course ends.

Developing & Growing Small Business Program (for Women)

For women from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse background who 

  • Have no business experience OR
  • Have a small business but require input on how to improve their business
All classes will be held on Saturdays only. Participants will also be involved in setting up and preparing stalls in 3 market events to practice business skills learnt.

Basic Car Maintenance Course

Learn how to check oil, filter, all fluids, tire pressure, belts, hoses, brakes, leaks, etc.

An information session run by Carers QLD in conjunction with MCC under the Settlement Services program funded by the Department of Social Services.

Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability & Ageing)

Want to start a career in disability/aged care? Get qualified to work as an Assistant in Nursing, Personal Care Assistant, Community Support Worker or Home Care Assistant.

The next course is scheduled from 23 January to 23 May 2018 and will be held at 23 Foster St, Newmarket.

No Fees for Australian/New Zealand citizens, Permanent Residents or Temporary Residents with the necessary visa and work permits on a pathway to permanent residency. Other conditions apply.

Update from September

Video Program for Nepalese Youth


6 Nepalese youth attended a short program to learn how to use cameras to video record their community events. Held on 23 September, this is part of the Youth Activities for the Settlement Services Program (SSP) which is funded by the Department of Social Services.
