HIGHLIGHTS FROM FEBRUARY
Technicolour Chinese New Year Market

MCC's Technicolour Chinese New Year Night Market held on 16th February, was a great success! Over 1500 people came and  indulged in delicious Asian cuisine, explored a massive variety of stalls which had alot of beautiful gifts for purchase. The crowd was thrilled by a spectacular show, sponsored by the PRC Consulate General, with numerous talented performers from the Chinese community, with their beautiful costumes, and stories to tell through their dance and singing. Children were entertained with various games, including a jumping castle, a friendly panda, face painting and 'Spin the Wheel' for great prizes.

This year's market featured a photography exhibition organized by the Brisbane Chinese Photography Association and the Gold Coast Photographic Society, with the theme 'NEW' , which attracted 85 participants who submitted amazing photographs. There was a panel of 3 accredited judges who chose several winners,  sponsored by Westpac Bank and A1 Smart Property Finance. 40 top entries were displayed professionally and are available for purchase.

Special Guests at the night market included Minister Grace Grace, Minister Dr Anthony Lynham, Senator Claire Moore,  Trevor Evans MP, Tim Mander MP (Deputy Leader of Liberal Party), Dr Christian Rowan MP, Chinese Consul General Dr Xu Jie, Queensland Police Commissioner Ian Stewart, and Michael Choi (former Deputy Minister of Multicultural Affairs), who together with MCC's Director Jeannie Mok OAM participated in the 'Prosperity Salad Toss' to welcome 2019 and wish for a Blessed and Prosperous New Year.

A very big 'Thank You' to our Project Co-Coordinators Al Bryan Canedo, Joshua Vergis and Meskerem Amdework and their team of SQW sponsored Trainees for organizing such an extravagant and successful event.
