Graduate Women Queensland Bursary Award
Every year, the Graduate Women Queensland awards the Delma Doherty bursary to an outstanding female student, who has succeeded well, inspite of the many obstacles in her pursuit of higher education. On the 27th August 2020 at a small ceremony at Diverciti Centre, Newmarket,  the Bursary was awarded to Bilijana Letic. Present at the ceremony were Dr. Del Doherty, Dr. Mary Crawford (President of GWQ), Ms. Lisa Crawford (Director of Immigration, Northern Territory and Queendsland) and Mrs. Jeannie Mok OAM. Bilijana completed her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care at MCC in 2019,  and while currently employed in a childcare centre, has enrolled in MCC's Diploma in Early Childhood Education & Care. Accompanying Bilijana was her daughter Joanna. Congratulations Bilijana!

SETS INFORMATION SESSION
Our Settlement Engagement and Transition Support team hosted an information session for their clients on the 25th August 2020 via Microsoft Teams. The session was on Job Hunting and Resume writing and hosted by our Project Coordinator Meskerem Amdework.
FOOD DISTRIBUTION
Our students from our Certificate III courses have been recipients of food parcels from the Multicultural Community Centre. A big ‘Thank you’ to Dr. Julian Mok and his amazing team of volunteers, who work tirelessly to ensure that no one is forgotten during this pandemic. It has been quite a massive task, providing weekly food parcels to  about 17 households for the past 3 months. This assistance has made it a lot easier for especially, international students.

WHAT HAPPENED IN AUGUST!
Developing and Growing Small Business (DGSB)
For several years, MCC has offered a 'Developing and Growing Small Business' Program, funded by Multicultural Affairs Queensland (MAQ). This program provides non-accredited training to migrants to learn how to set up and run a small business in Australia. A small graduation ceremony was held for some of the participants earlier in August; special guests included the Director of MAQ Julie McDougall and Mrs. Jeannie Mok OAM, MCC's Director (Volunteer), as well as Project Coordinator Leonardo Leguizamon. Warmest congratulations to our DGSB graduates.
