Time flies when you are having fun! This year, MCC soldiered on despite several snap lock downs, and with the valuable experience gained last year, continued business as usual. Hence MCC celebrated in style, one of the biggest Graduations ever with about 200 students receiving their certificates from DESBT Minister Di Farmer, witnessed by a wonderful array of VIPs, including the Lady Mayoress Nina Shrinner, Senator Paul Scarr, Jimmy Sullivan MP and several MPs. It was also momentous, since despite the many challenges, over 90% of our graduates had found jobs! MCC was also able to proceed with a mini Technicolour Festival and Schools Art Show, with the highlight being 100 + disadvantaged children from AEIOU and Down Syndrome Australia having free reign of the rides and other attractions. Other cultural events were celebrated by hundreds of well-wishers, including the Chinese New Year market and cultural show, as well as an Easter event where over 500 children raced to collect 10,000 chocolate eggs. Well, it’s time for a well-earned rest and to reflect on the reason for the season. Even as MCC has joined its multicultural friends to celebrate Diwali and Eid al-Fitr, we now celebrate Christmas: the birth of Jesus, who transformed the Christian world over 2000 years ago. May this festive time be enjoyed with great delight and exultation! MCC has been giving fabulous food parcels every week to over 30 families for the last 18 months - let us continue to bless the many who are in need, with acts of loving kindness and generosity. Oh, what would MCC do without its volunteers, supporters, sponsors and dedicated staff? To them, go especially, our heartfelt thanks and good wishes. Remember to rest, and make quality time for friends and loved ones – it’s catch-up time to truly relish our relationships, and especially with our Great Creator. Merry Christmas and a most blessed New Year!
