Graduate Woman's Queensland- Award of the Bursary

Each year The Graduate Women's Queensland offer the Award of the Bursary in Honor of Dr. Del Doherty to an outstanding woman student to assist her to continue to further her studies in a College or University. This year the Multicultural Community Centre were proud to have another one of their students receive that Award. The Award of the Bursary was received by Khee Lar Paw on the 25th of May 2019. She had completed her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care in 2018 and is currently employed in a childcare centre. Khee Lar Paw will now be able to further her studies while she continues to work. Accompanying Khee to the award ceremony was MCC Project Coordinator Sylvia Tiong and API Trainer Maria Thomas. We Congratulate Khee Lar Paw on her achievement in receiving the Bursary Award!

2019 LORD MAYOR’S REFUGEE WELCOME CEREMONY

The Multicultural Community Centre takes part every year in the Lord Mayor’s Refugee Welcome Ceremony. On the 8th May 2019, we had the honour of witnessing the new Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner, officially welcome people from refugee backgrounds as new residents of the city. MCC’s project coordinators had set up a booth to provided the new residents information on the programs and services that MCC has available. MCC’s Director/Volunteer Mrs. Jeannie Mok OAM was also present at this event and had a moment with Mrs. Schrinner to share about the wonderful work MCC contributes to all the different communities around Brisbane.
