What happened in December
Technicolour Christmas Show & Markets
What a way to close off an amazing year at MCC! Our Christmas Show and Markets was a great success. It was indeed a hot day so our kids cooled off in the Winter Wonderland area that was beautifully created by our hardworking team. There were plenty of goodies to buy at our markets and a lot of delicious food enjoyed by our hungry market goers, and yes we had snow cones to keep the kids cool, even the big kids too! We had Santa visit us as well, and the children managed to send off a few last minute letters to Santa. Let's not forget the extraordinary performance by  International City Church for the Christmas Show which was spectacular! We had a number of happy kids walk away with some amazing prizes from the 'Home for Christmas' Art Competition. With such amazing talent and well deserved prizes Christmas definitely came early for some of our happy winners. Overall an amazing event thanks to all our volunteers and the team of 12 trainees and their Project Coordinators Samantha Lac & Joshua Vergis.
MCC's VISITORS
A small delegation of PRC Foreign Affairs officers from Beijing (guests of the Consulate of China in Brisbane) paid a  visit to MCC on the 5th December 2019. Our Director (Volunteer) Mrs. Jeannie Mok shared with our visitors about the award- winning ‘Training /Employment’ work that MCC does; thus they gained an understanding of the different programs / services provided to our multicultural community. They also had a chance to see our SQW government-funded Markets trainees in action, preparing for the Technicolour Christmas, and Chinese New Year markets.
DGSB Graduation
Every year MCC offers a 'Developing and Growing Small Businesses' Program which is funded by the Multicultural Affairs Queensland. This program provides non- accredited training to migrants to learn how to set up and run a small business. 17 participants took part in the program of which 12 were in Stream 1 which is for those with no business experience, and 5  in the stream 2 which is for those who are wanting to grow their existing businesses. After weeks of intense training, they completed the program and had their graduation ceremony on December 16, 2019. Director of Multicultural Affairs Queensland Julie McDougall graced the occasion that was held at the Diverciti Centre. Warm congratulations to our new graduates of the DGSB Program.
ENGLISH CONVERSATION CLUB
